Learning to drive on the Gold Coast

Every learner arrives somewhere different. Some are starting from scratch on quiet residential streets. Others can already drive but want to feel steadier through the busier roundabouts around Robina and Nerang, or in Surfers Paradise traffic. Lessons start with what you can already do, and spend the time where it actually helps.

Our instructors live and teach on the Coast, so they know the local roads and conditions well. Lessons are calm and structured, with the same instructor each time, and parents are welcome to book and follow a learner's progress. The aim is safe, confident driving that lasts well beyond the test.

From your Ls to your Ps

Here are the main steps to a Queensland licence, and where lessons with Metro fit in.

Get your Ls

Pass the learner theory test and pick up your learner permit.

Start lessons

Book your first lesson with a Gold Coast instructor who comes to you.

Log 100 hours

Build your supervised hours, including 10 at night. Your instructor's hours count too.

Mock test

Rehearse the real practical test on local roads and fix the last few habits.

Pass your test

Sit the test in our familiar dual-control car, with test-day support.

On your Ps

Provisional licence sorted. Refresher lessons are there if you want them later.

Gold Coast driving lesson questions

Yes. Our instructors cover the Gold Coast from Runaway Bay, Labrador and Hope Island in the north, through Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Nerang and Robina, down to Burleigh Heads, Varsity Lakes and the southern hinterland.

We currently teach in 38 Gold Coast suburbs, and the full list is above. If you don't see yours, get in touch and we'll let you know the nearest instructor.

Yes. Free door-to-door pick-up and drop-off is included on the Gold Coast, so we can start your lesson from home, work, TAFE or school.

Yes. With our car-hire-for-test and test-day packages you sit the practical in the same dual-control car you've trained in, with a warm-up lesson beforehand.

Both, at the same price. Choose automatic for the quickest, calmest path to a licence, or manual for a full unrestricted licence that lets you drive any car.

A single one-hour lesson is $93, and 5 and 10-lesson packages work out cheaper per lesson. Automatic and manual cost the same.
