Under-25 learners in Queensland need 100 logbook hours before the test. Daytime lessons with an accredited instructor count triple, so structured lessons move that number faster than practice alone. See how it adds up.

Driving lesson questions

Should I learn automatic or manual?

Automatic has less to manage, so many learners pass sooner. Manual gives you a full open licence with no condition, and lets you drive any car. If you'll only ever drive automatics, learn auto. If you may drive manual or want maximum flexibility, learn manual. Both cost the same, and we teach both.

How many lessons will I need?

It depends on your starting point and how much you practise between lessons, so we won't put a number on it up front. Many learners start with a 5 or 10-lesson package to build momentum and keep the same instructor each time, then add top-ups as needed.

How does the Queensland licence pathway work?

You can get your learner licence from age 16 and hold it for at least a year. Under-25 learners complete 100 logbook hours, including 10 at night, before the practical test, then move to a P1 licence from 17, P2 from 18, and an open licence from 20. Learners 25 and over don't need the logbook and go straight to P2 once they pass. We help you plan for whichever pathway is yours.

Do daytime lessons really count triple in the logbook?

Yes. In Queensland, each hour of daytime driving with an accredited instructor is recorded as three hours in your learner logbook, up to a maximum of 10 hours, which is 30 logbook hours. Hours beyond that are logged as normal. It's a genuine head start toward the 100-hour requirement.

Do you pick me up, and can I choose my instructor?

Yes to both. Lessons include free pick-up and drop-off at home, work, uni or school within your area, and you can choose a male or female instructor, whoever you feel most comfortable learning with.
