Overseas conversion questions

Do I have to sit a test to convert my overseas licence?

It depends on the country your licence is from. Licences from New Zealand and recognised countries can often transfer without a test, while licences from non-recognised countries require you to pass a road rules (theory) test and the Queensland practical driving test. Check your specific pathway with Transport and Main Roads (Queensland Transport).

I'm an experienced driver. Do I really need lessons?

Many experienced overseas drivers do, mainly to adapt to driving on the left and local road rules, and to know what the Queensland test assessor expects.

Can I hire your car for the test?

Yes. You can hire our driving school car for the official test, and practise in our cars beforehand with a lesson or a mock test.

Can you help with the local road rules?

Yes, that's a core part of these lessons: give-way rules, roundabouts, speed zones and the conventions that differ from other countries.
