You focus on smooth steering, stopping and simple intersections on MacGregor’s internal residential streets before stepping up to nearby collector roads.
With more experience, you work with our instructors on lane discipline, bus lanes and turning into retail driveways along Kessels Road.
You practise approaching and leaving multi-lane intersections on Mains Road and McCullough Street, managing pedestrians, buses and turning traffic.
MacGregor’s driving is shaped by major roads such as Kessels Road, Mains Road and McCullough Street, with the Pacific Motorway along the northern edge. Our instructors can start you away from these busier corridors, then gradually introduce multi-lane traffic, merging and higher speeds so you learn how to judge gaps, choose lanes and plan turns as conditions change across the day.
Inside the suburb, the largely post‑war residential street pattern and generally gentle terrain give learners a straightforward place to practise steering, braking and intersections without steep hills. Detached housing streets and pockets of medium‑density redevelopment create varied parking and access patterns, so you can work on scanning for driveways, parked cars and changing sightlines before tackling heavier traffic.
