Learning to drive here
What it’s like learning in Cleveland
Cleveland is the centre of the Redlands and, handily, it is where the practical test is run from, so learning here means training on the very roads you are likely to be assessed on. Most learners start on the quieter residential streets off Shore Street and around the foreshore, where it is flat and calm enough to get the basics sorted.
From there, Middle Street and Bloomfield Street are the natural next step. They carry the town-centre traffic, the shopping and the run down to Toondah Harbour for the Stradbroke ferry, so there is plenty of real practice in give-way, parking and roundabouts. Old Cleveland Road East and Finucane Road link Cleveland across to Capalaba when you are ready for busier arterials.
