Ashgrove’s hilly, leafy streets are useful for early lessons that focus on car control without too much traffic. Residential gradients and undulating terrain make it a natural place to practise smooth hill starts, low‑speed manoeuvres and speed control on slopes. Many local streets also have parked cars and narrower carriageways, so you learn early to position the car correctly and scan for driveways, pedestrians and changing sight lines as you move away from the main roads.
Once basic skills are in place, our instructors can introduce Waterworks Road and Jubilee Terrace as key corridors for more advanced practice. These routes bring in multi‑lane traffic, intersections and frequent buses, which help you work on lane discipline, gap selection and bus interactions at your own pace. Enoggera Road towards Newmarket adds experience with CBD‑bound traffic and turning near shops. When conditions are unsuitable or too busy for your level, we shift back to nearby residential connectors until you are ready to step up again.

No previous driving is required. We begin with seating, controls, mirrors, moving off and stopping, then add local traffic only when the basics feel manageable.
Bring the experience you already have. Our instructor will assess your current habits, strengthen weaker skills and progressively introduce the decisions needed for independent driving.
Use the remaining time to identify avoidable faults, practise independent decisions and become comfortable with test-day expectations. Test-day packages can include a warm-up and use of our car.

If creek‑side routes or park areas are affected by heavy rain or flooding, our instructors adjust or reschedule lessons. You will still learn about flood awareness and choosing safer routes without driving through standing water.
