Learning to drive here
On the road in Shailer Park
Much of Shailer Park is gently to moderately hilly, with some streets feeling quite steep. Our instructors often start early sessions in the tree‑lined residential streets so you can get used to gradient changes, smooth braking and pulling away uphill without pressure. Those larger blocks and driveways make it easier to practise checking for vehicles reversing or parked along the kerb, all in a familiar suburban setting before moving on to more complex traffic.
As you grow in confidence, our instructors can make careful use of the Logan Hyperdome precinct and Mandew Street area. Traffic here varies, with turning movements into car parks, more pedestrians and a mix of family destinations like Playzone and community services. This helps you practise lane choice, indicating into side streets and watching for people crossing near entrances, while still staying off the busiest ramps and motorway access until you are ready for those advanced conditions.
