Learning to drive here
On the road in Oxley
Around Oxley State School and the surrounding residential grid, beginners can focus on core skills such as smooth stopping, scanning for driveways and handling lower speeds without constant pressure from heavy traffic. As confidence grows, our instructors can gradually introduce more complex situations on nearby streets that still feel local and familiar, so you are not rushed into busy conditions before you are ready.
Oxley’s road network includes key corridors such as Oxley Road and Blunder Road, where local traffic, turning vehicles and nearby shops create useful practice in judging gaps and responding to changing speed zones. Seventeen Mile Rocks Road offers another style of suburban driving with light industrial movement and intersections, helping you learn how different road types feel. Our instructors choose times and sections that suit your experience so these roads become learning tools, not stress points.
