Our instructors use these local streets for early lessons, focusing on steering, scanning and simple intersections where traffic is often more manageable. The mix of driveways, on‑street parking and varying road widths helps learners practise passing parked cars, judging gaps and planning turns. As skills improve, we can link these streets to nearby shopping precincts and small parks so learners start noticing pedestrians, short‑stay parking and different give way situations.
The suburb’s elevated terrain means many streets have slopes and views across the district. Our instructors make use of these hilly sections to introduce smooth hill starts, low‑gear speed control and careful observation over crests. This kind of practice is useful before tackling busier sections of Logan Road, Cavendish Road, Creek Road and Newnham Road. Because these corridors carry Brisbane City Council buses and a range of local and through traffic, we time lessons to suit the learner, stepping up from quieter side‑street entries into multi‑lane decisions, lane changes and bus interactions when the learner is ready.
