Learning to drive here
The roads you learn on in Sunnybank Hills
Most of Sunnybank Hills is established detached housing, with a broad suburban street network and generally gentle terrain. Our instructors often start newer learners in these lower speed residential areas, where there is time to focus on basic steering, braking, intersections and dealing with parked cars. As you settle in, we can introduce local collector roads that sit between quiet streets and arterials, so you get used to changing traffic levels without feeling rushed.
Around Calam Road and Compton Road, Sunnybank Hills has a major commercial corridor and the Calam–Compton Road commercial precinct, including the large Sunnybank Hills Shoppingtown. This area concentrates turning movements, carpark entrances, pedestrians and bus activity. Our instructors will usually bring more experienced learners here to practise judging gaps, choosing lanes, approaching signals and safely entering and exiting busy carparks, all while managing buses pulling in and out of stops and people crossing to shops.
