On the road in Stones Corner
Stones Corner is organised around the junction of Logan Road and Old Cleveland Road, so most local driving involves multi-lane arterial movements, traffic lights and steady vehicle flows. Our instructors use this corridor to help you read signal phases, choose lanes early and manage turns near landmarks like the Stones Corner Hotel without rushing. As you progress, we can introduce more complex decisions, such as handling busy side streets and watching for pedestrians coming from the Stones Corner Village shopping centre and nearby corners.
Within the Stones Corner Suburban Renewal Precinct, Logan Road and Cleveland Street carry a mix of café trade, short-stay parking and residents from new and proposed apartment buildings. Our instructors treat this area as a useful step-up environment, where you practise low-speed control, scanning for people stepping between parked cars, and sharing space with buses and cyclists. Close to Norman Creek and Hanlon Park, you also learn to adjust for flat, potentially low-lying terrain in heavy rain, checking visibility and surface conditions around the western edge of the suburb.
