Learning to drive here
On the road in New Farm
Around New Farm’s residential streets you’ll find a mix of Queenslander houses, apartments and on-street parking. This gives beginners useful practice judging gaps, working around driveways and staying aware of parked cars that may pull out or open doors. Some streets stay relatively calm, while others can pick up cut-through traffic at peak times, so our instructors choose stretches that suit how comfortable you are with low-speed navigation and regular mirror checks.
Brunswick Street is New Farm’s main thoroughfare and commercial strip, carrying buses, through-traffic and people visiting cafés and shops. Lessons here help you manage bus movements, mixed parking and frequent pedestrian crossings, especially near the New Farm Neighbourhood Centre and the commercial precinct. As you progress, our instructors can extend your driving along Brunswick Street towards Fortitude Valley, so you get used to the change from local residential conditions into busier inner-city driving.
