Learning to drive here
On the road in Clontarf
Most of Clontarf is general residential, with flat local streets and a few light industrial pockets. Our instructors can begin lessons in calmer neighbourhood areas to focus on basic steering, judgement at simple intersections and smooth stopping. As you progress, light industrial sections around workshop areas help you learn to share space with larger vehicles, watch for driveways and navigate around loading bays without feeling rushed.
Along the foreshore, places like Clontarf Beach, Bells Beach and Pelican Park bring more pedestrians, cyclists and parked cars, especially on fine weekends and holidays. On Hornibrook Esplanade our instructors can introduce low‑speed manoeuvres, angle parking and frequent hazards such as people crossing and cars reversing. Being a low‑lying coastal strip, this area can also teach you to manage sea breezes, changing light over Bramble Bay and wet‑weather puddles, while avoiding any unsafe standing water.
