AAutomatic Recommended

  • No clutch or gears to master

MManual Full licence

  • Lets you drive any car, with no restriction
  • Needed for some trade and work vehicles
  • More to coordinate: clutch, gears and hill starts
  • Can take a few more lessons
If you want the quickest, least stressful way to get licensed, automatic is usually the better choice.
With no clutch or gears to manage, automatic is the calmer, easier choice.
If you need to drive any car, including utes, hire cars and work vehicles, manual is worth the extra lessons.

No. An automatic licence only covers automatic vehicles. If you may need to drive manual cars, it's worth learning manual instead. It costs the same.
